Ariana is a Melbourne-based designer and illustrator, and the founder of Goatlane Design.
Her creative interest lies in visually representing how stories form the fabric of our lives.
As a child, Ariana's artistic sensibility was awakened in the highlands of Costa Rica’s Central Valley, where she grew up surrounded by coffee plantations and nature. Her love of nature suffuses her illustrations and serves as an everlasting inspiration.
In 2020 at the start of the pandemic, she started illustrating portraits as a means to explore her internal world as the external ethos began to shrink due to extended lockdowns. This path led her to a wonderful journey of self-discovery.
Her poetic portraits depict female stories of strength, hope and contemplation. All illustrations are hand drawn using graphite and ink, they are then hand painted using digital methods. This juxtaposition creates a beautiful contrast of bold colours and muted undertones.
