Life, love and laughter with endometriosis

One in ten people in Australia are living with endometriosis and countless others are supporting them, caring for them, championing various treatments and being impacted by this incurable condition. Endo Days is a look at the stories of those within the endo community, as told to journalist and educator Libby Trainor Parker, who was diagnosed with endometriosis aged thirty-six, and has dedicated the past seven years to finding the lighter side of chronic illness.

Endo Days is a frank, often funny and honest memoir told in a narrative journalism style, with Libby's own story as the central narrative, drawing on interviews with others with endometriosis (both women, men and non-binary), their partners - male and female, doctors and specialists, researchers and the wider endo community.

About the Author

Libby Trainor Parker is many things to many people: writer, performer, speaker, teacher, parent, partner, business owner owner and health advocate.

Diagnosed later in life with endometriosis and adenomyosis after a lifetime of mystery, Libby now dedicates her life to advocating for people with illness so they can be diagnosed, treated, and live a full life.

Author of the book Endo Days (Wakefield Press), Libby has been instrumental and successful in lobbying for funds for endometriosis learning programs and raising awareness for the condition.

Libby is a popular MC and speaker, and can also be seen on stage as an award-winning cabaret performer and stand up comedian.

Available to speak at your event, run workshops or consult on health and wellbeing, Libby Trainor Parker brings education, knowledge, lived experience and a healthy dose of humour to everything she does.

Praise for Endo Days

'With vulnerability, humour and kindness Libby Trainor Parker has put into words everything I wish I had known at the start of my own experience with endometriosis. By mixing memoir with journalism, Endo Days presents information, stories and tools that will save so many from pain, humiliation and dismissal. This is an important practical resource that will ensure future generations are able to understand their bodies, self-advocate and live fulfilling lives alongside their endometriosis.' - Kylie Maslen, author of Show Me Where It Hurts: Living with Invisible Illness

'So often those with endometriosis are ignored, dismissed, misdiagnosed and gaslit by the medical profession. Libby's unique and hilarious humour, combined with journalistic rigour and addictive, rollicking storytelling, forces us to sit up and pay attention to a condition that affects 1 in 9 Aussie people who menstruate. Like an expert markswoman, she shoots down the endo myths one at a time offering sufferers beacons of hope - and perhaps more importantly, the sense of being heard and believed. She offers patients compassion, open-heartedness and a long-sought sense of community. Not only this, but Libby lays down a rally cry to the medical community: believe us and do better. For anyone with endo - or anyone who loves someone with the condition - this book is an hilarious and educative must-read.' - Ginger Gorman, author of Troll Hunting: Inside the world of online hate and its human fallout

Comedian, journalist, teacher, radio presenter and cabaret performer Libby Trainor Parker does a lot of things, but writing is her first love. She had her first piece published in the Canberra Times when she was eight years old (a clever little poem about being addicted to telly), which could very well have been her peak. Libby has had her work published across a number of magazines and online news outlets, such as the Advertiser, The Barker Mag, Rip It Up, and On the Record.
