MEET OUR MAKERS | Dinzi Amobi
Inspired by her proud Nigerian heritage and driven by her enormous passion for colour and African wax prints, Founder & Creative Director, Dinzi Amobi, designs homewares and lifestyle pieces using limited edition wax prints sourced directly from local artisans and market vendors in Africa. Dinzi began designing her first collection, ULO Dining, a series of colourful table linens, whilst she was on maternity leave following the birth of her twin daughters. She has since extended her collections to include a vibrant kidswear collection, ULO Kids, and is set to launch ULO Woman, an easy-to-wear collection for women to enjoy in June 2020. Each collection is designed by Dinzi, and handmade by her team in their Melbourne studio.Dinzi, who was born to Nigerian and British parents, has taken the best of her multicultural upbringing to showcase Western aesthetics with the chromatic colours of Africa - a true representation of her identity and mixed culture. ‘ULO’ means ‘Home’ in the native language of the Igbo people in Nigeria, West Africa. As a gentle nod to her late father, a proud Nigerian chief, Dinzi chose the name to ensure her collections embody her heritage and family values. Dinzi is on a mission to show that African print does not discriminate, it is for everyone!
